Bol Bak – I Swear They Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet
Words: Good Sport

Bol Bak is a basketball player originally from South Sudan. Based in Melbourne since 2003, he started playing two years after his arrival in the city. He was introduced to the sport by his older cousin Kuany Kuany, who currently plays for Cairns Taipans in the National Basketball League. Bak says Kuany’s influence made him the person he is today—“He taught me that, in life and basketball, you have to go get yours. Nobody’s gonna hand it to you. He always told me to dream big, to never stop pushing and take your game to new heights”. A philosophy that Bak has stuck with is, “The only thing standing between you and your dream is reluctance.” He spent 2017 at Wadleigh Secondary School for the Performing & Visual Arts in New York. He currently plays point guard for his home team in the Melton Youth League and hopes to bring the championship home to them.
Good Sport linked up with Bol midway through his season and watched him drown out his competition with a fresh pair of Nuraphones. Bol also let us in on what he’s been listening too with his new personalised sound.
